Long-Welded Rails

Long rail sections are welded together into contactless rails at permitted clamping temperature, using closing welds according to Regulation ŽSR S3-2. Under adverse climatic conditions /spring, autumn, winter/ the permitted interval of clamping temperatures need not be achieved. In such cases we use simulated clamping temperature by means of Geismar motor stressing equipment and (for points), the Geismar SH4 rail heating machine.

While applying stress to rails, we use epsilon rods for checking the correct clamping temperature and equal stress distribution. One rod remains fixed to the rail in the vicinity of the stressing machine¸ and the other rod is placed at the end of the rail stressing band.
