School in Nature
Slovakia had faced many events in the year 2010, of which those most intensely resonating in our minds represented the floods and their immense material consequences. However, more than those, the affected families were struck by feelings of hopelessness and sorrow, as the result of loss of family members and home comforts. All this motivated many people in Slovakia to render selfless assistance.
Additionally to its primary activities, the company TSS GRADE, a.s. has been involved in societal, humanitarian and social areas, in terms of its support provided to projects expressing fellowship in link with various situations, and of its preparedness to help. Helping others, mainly at times of emergency, is a natural obligation. This philosophy of TSS GRADE, a.s. is an important component of its corporate culture more and more developing each year; and its participation in generally beneficent projects creates a unity of joint value concepts of the company’s management. The floods that overrun Slovakia in this year have become a permanent challenge toward assistance and fellowship. 2010 was the first year when Trnavská stavebná spoločnosť decided to become involved in the project of charity aimed at children living in flood-stricken parts of East Slovakia. The charitable project, titled SCHOOL IN NATURE, had its objective to help children whose most-precious belongings – their homes and families – were most affected by the floods. Thus, children selected from among 270 second-grade primary schools in the region of East Slovakia have become the opportunity to draw new strength and vent their frustrations caused by painful memories of the flooding. Together with their teachers, they took turns in spending weekly sojourns in the picturesque and healthy Slovak Paradise environment, free of any charge. Primary school children from Kendice, Sabinov, Kežmarok, Mlčice, Nižná Myšľa, Gelnica, Sulín, Čaňa and Krásna nad Hornádom enjoyed their School in Nature stays.
This year´s floods that devastated Slovakia had been unexpected as well as calamitous. But they also challenged permanent chances of help and fellowship. We started considering our provision of concrete assistance quite naturally, and our ideas were transformed into the School in Nature project.
